The last decade in this archive is the one where the police sedan disappears. In 2025, for the first time in the programme’s history, Michigan tests no four-door saloon of any kind — the field is eleven trucks, crossovers and an electric Blazer that turns out to be the quickest vehicle there.
In 2026 a Mustang badge returns after thirty-three years, as an all-wheel-drive electric crossover, and records the shortest stop ever measured by a car in these tests. It also finishes last of thirteen on the score that asks whether an officer can work in it.

About these tests. Michigan has evaluated patrol vehicles every
autumn since 1976 and published the results ever since. The scoring converts
performance into a dollar figure that is added to each manufacturer’s bid, which
is why the numbers are trustworthy — the department has to buy the car it
