What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Some are necessary for a site to function. Others record how you use it, or are set by third parties whose content appears on the page. Similar technologies such as local storage and tracking pixels work in comparable ways, and where we refer to cookies below we mean those too.
Your choice
When you first visit, you are asked whether to accept non-essential cookies. Nothing but strictly necessary cookies is set until you choose. You can accept, reject, or choose by category, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer.

We have configured analytics so that IP addresses are handled in a privacy-preserving way and the data is used in aggregate. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Embedded video
Our films are hosted on YouTube and embedded here. Only set with your consent.

We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which means YouTube does not set tracking cookies until you actually play a video. Once you press play, YouTube may set its own cookies, governed by Google’s privacy policy rather than ours.
Purchases
If you buy the ebook, you are taken to Gumroad, which sets its own cookies to process the transaction. These are governed by Gumroad’s own policies.
Managing cookies in your browser
Beyond the settings on this site, you can control cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you block cookies entirely, delete existing ones, or block only third-party cookies. Blocking everything will stop parts of the site working, including embedded video.

Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is still no agreed standard for how sites should respond, so we do not act on it. The cookie choices on this site are the reliable way to control what is set.
